Locke Mania....Social Contract

We have discussed John Locke in class as well as in your chapter...respond to the following statement in the 10 minutes allotted in class. No responses after your class period will be graded.
A contract is defined as an exchange of promises between two parties. Apply this to the social contract laid out in Locke’s writings.

  1. Locke argued that govenment must be built on the consent of the governed; in other words, the people must agree on who their leader will be. Locke also pointed out that there should be a limited government and there must be clear restrictions on what the ruler can do. The people are to elect who they would like to represent them and in exchange the leader compromises with power but with limited power.
